Peaky Pigs Review

Snowborn has a thing for cute and cartoonish animal slots, but Peaky Pigs comes with a rougher theme than the predecessor, Cat Clans. Clearly, the Scandinavian developer has allowed themselves to be inspired by Peaky Blinders, the popular British gangster drama, and this is a fun parody installment that is close to a reskin of the first game.

The reels are filled with things like knuckle dusters, razors and boxing gloves, and the main characters are 4 seedy pigs named Billy Bacon, Sam the Ham, Ricky Ribs and Tommy Hilpigger. Each pig corresponds to a piggy prize, and these are won at random times via a coin collection system. You get multiplier wilds in all stages, and they can increase up to x9 in the bonus round. The 20,000x potential is the same, but the top-tier 5,000x coin prize is sliced in half.

Peaky Pigs Slot Features

The pig character premium symbols pay between 10 and 12.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and Wilds step in for pay symbols to help complete wins. Landing 5 wilds on a payline awards 111x your stake, and wilds also come with multipliers between x1 and x5. If you get more than one multiplier wild involved in the same win, the multiplier values are multiplied together.

Coin icons can appear overlaid on pig symbols, and these are collected whenever they land. Each time a coin is collected there is a chance you’ll trigger the Piggy Pots Bonus, and this awards 5 free spins. Each of the 4 pigs represent 1 of the 4 Piggy Pot prizes, and pigs are collected during the feature. You win the prize of the most collected pig, and they pay 15x, 20x, 200x and 5,000x your stake, respectively.

You need 3 pocket watch scatters on the same base game spin to trigger the Bonus Round, and scatters can land on reels 1, 3 and 5 only. You start out with 3 free spins, and all wilds that land become sticky and reset the spin tally to 3 again. A randomly chosen sticky wild will have its multiplier increased by +1 per free spin, and it can go as high as x9 per wild. Non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can buy the bonus round for 50x the stake.

You get to see a larger payout in the base game, as well as a near-miss scatter teaser, before we purchase the bonus round at 0:45 into the 3-minute highlights video. You can see for yourself how it all played out by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

It cannot be denied that Peaky Pigs follows very closely in the footsteps of the charming Cat Clans, but it still feels like a unique and fresh game when you play it. The cartoonish visuals are nicely done, and the tip of the hat to the British gangster series, Peaky Blinders, adds a bit of depth to the presentation. The most notable difference from Cat Clans is that the coin collect top prize has been reduced from 10,000x to 5,000x in this installment.

The top-tier RTP is a tad higher though, but not really enough to compensate in our opinion. The gangster pig theme will appeal to a different crowd perhaps, and the multiplying multiplier wilds is enough to keep the base game interesting. The coin jackpots can be seen as a “loyalty bonus” for sticking to your guns, and sticky multiplier wilds can lead to 20,000x payouts in the bonus round. Overall, a solid game on its own, but it could’ve been tweaked even more to avoid the copycat stamp.
